William 'Bill' VanSickler was born December 1, 1944, in Jesup, Georgia. He grew up and graduated high school in Fitzgerald, Georgia. A lot of his early years were spent working on the family dairy. After he graduated high school, he joined the Marines. He spent time in Alaska and Vietnam. After he left the Marines, he moved around some before deciding that Texas would be home. He worked as a code enforcement officer with the city of Farmers Branch, retiring after 30 years. He has always been active in church singing in the choir and more recently becoming involved in baseball camp mission trips to Aurich, Germany. He went for several years and continued to be involved by praying for the baseball camp. His outgoing and fun personality was evident to all. He loved going for car rides with his dog Carter, going to feed the donkeys, taking pictures, and spending time with his family including playing Harry Potter Trouble. He made friends wherever he went and loved keeping in touch with friends and family worldwide. Everyone who knew Bill was blessed with having him for an additional 8 ½ years through the donation of a lung.
He went into his heavenly home on July 22, 2024. He is survived by his wife Donna VanSickler, his sister Marguerite Maxwell, 4 children and their spouses, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins and extended family members.
