Roberta (Stevens) McDaniel, 79, of Marlin, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Marlin with Pastor Lynn Kemp officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Adams Funeral Home.

Mrs. McDaniel was born on February 4, 1942 in Kilgore, Texas to Thomas and Helen (Merritt) Stevens. She married James McDaniel on March 3, 1961 in Marlin and they celebrated over 60 wonderful years together. Mrs. McDaniel was big in the horse industry, loved rodeos and playing Bingo but her true love was her family; especially her grandkids. She was the editor of the Marlin Democrat for over 20 years and was a member of Trinity Memorial Church. Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Terry Cox.

Survivors include her husband; James McDaniel of Marlin, son; William "Bill" McDaniel and his husband, Matt McCoy of Atlanta, Georgia, daughter; Tracy Martinez and her husband, John of Hubbard, Texas, a special beloved family member; Roper McDaniel, brothers; Richard Stevens of Salt Lake City, Utah, George Stevens of Klamath Falls, Oregon and Bruce Stevens of New Boston, Texas, half-sister; Jodee Stevens of Lone Star, Texas, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
