Regina Kay (Funderburk) Ward, age 58, flew to her heavenly home on July 30, 2021. She passed away peacefully in her mother's home surrounded by family. Regina was born in Freeport, TX on April 10, 1963. She was a 1981 graduate of Marlin High School. Later in life she went on to earn her associates degree and just a few credits short of getting her bachelors. She was amazing at doing crafts. She claimed to have learned everything she knew from her very own loving mother, Kay Funderburk. She spoiled her children and grandchildren by providing all that they wanted or ever needed. She was a great mother. Regina also enjoyed reading books, quiet moments and long naps. She didn't want to miss out on her beauty rest! She worked at many places throughout her life. She could do almost anything you mentioned and she might even argue that she could do it better. Regina loved collecting antiques "junk" because to her it was treasure. You might have even caught her scrapping copper or aluminum cans for extra cash. Regina had a kind, beautiful soul-always willing to cheer people up and lend a helping hand. She would give the shirt off of her back to others and had a big heart for animals.
She is survived by her sweetheart, her "King", Johnny Ward. Her children: daughter Marisa and husband Woody, and her son, Cody Ward. She had three grandchildren: Ethan and Emiyah Lawson, and Aaliyah Irwin. She is also survived by her mother, Kay Funderburk, her brother Greg Funderburk and wife Cindy; her brother Terry Funderburk and wife Robin, and her sister Amber Peebles and husband Tom. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. All of these comprised made the entirety of her whole world. She loved her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Joseph and Evelyn Funderburk, her maternal grandparents, Aubry and Ophelia Butler, her father, Billy Funderburk and her son Teddy James Smith Jr.
Regina was a precious mother, daughter, sister, niece, wife and friend. God sent our loved one here as a gift to us and now she returns back to our father as a gift from us. Her spirit will forever be with us and she will never be forgotten. She is no longer in pain or suffering. She is at her final resting place just as God has promised us; resting in PEACE in his paradise.
