Erman Owen

Erman Owen, 91, passed away October 26th at BSW Hospice in Waco.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Riesel Cemetery with Shawn Williams officiating; Military Honors provided by Fort Hood Honor Guard, under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Marlin.

Erman was born in Lamesa, Texas. He graduated from Morgan High School in 1948. In 1951 - 1953 he served in the U.S. Army rising to the rank of Corporal. During this time he married the love of his life, Carolyn Ann Upchurch, in 1952.

Erman was employed by Safeway Grocery for many years. There he was known as Joe short for G.I. Joe as his coworkers affectionately called since he had recently mustered out of the service. On retirement, he lived on his farm in Riesel where he could be found plowing, planting, and enjoying country life.

Erman was a member of the Eastside Church of Christ. He and Carolyn enjoyed the fellowship and the friendships they formed there.

Erman was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wayne Owen; his parents Emerson and Virginia Owen. Survivors include his wife Carolyn; daughter Debra Ewing (husband Ron); son Ronnie Owen (wife Barbara); grandchildren Jennifer Boen (husband Korey), Jason Ewing (wife Megan), Patrick Owen (wife Holli), and Krista Owen; five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Colt, Emma, Julia, and Sophia.

Family requests any memorials be sent to the Eastside Church of Christ in Marlin Texas or charity of choice.
