Cathy Jean Allen Vargas of Lott, Texas, passed away January 20, 2021 in Marlin, Texas.

Cathy was born December 17, 1965 in Marlin, Texas to Johnnie Allen and Minigene Reed Allen. Cathy married Michael Vargas on December 13, 1985. They shared 35 years of love, laughter, and happiness. Cathy was a loving and caring woman, a devoted wife, mother, aunt "2nd mother", and friend. She loved the Lord and her family unconditionally. Even though she fought sickness for several years, she never let it stop her from calling her family each day and letting them know she loved them. She was the heart and glue of the family; her door was always open and she loved and welcomed a full house.

She is survived by her husband Michael Vargas; sons, Michael Vargas and Izayiah Melendrez; brother Johnny Allen and wife Felicia Allen; sister Darlene Erwin and husband Ashton Degrate; brother, Larry Gummelt and wife Donna Gummelt; her grandchildren, Anthony, Aiden, and Aubriena "Baby Girl"; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Minigene "Jean" Allen; her brothers, Larry Allen and Randy Gummelt; and her nephew, Jeramy Allen.

Pallbearers will be Roy Vargas, Jason Allen, Justin Allen, Johnny Erwin, Jacob Erwin, and Jayden Melendrez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Vargas, Raymond Vargas, Berto Martinez, and Danny McIntosh.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 25th from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin, Texas. The funeral will be on Tuesday, January 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeview Primera Iglesia Bautista Church, 104 FM 2308 (Lakeview Drive) Marlin, Texas. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
